Motorola Droid: If it IS broke, fix it!
Tom on December 19, 2009
While we’re yet to have a play with the latest-and-greatest touchscreen Android device, the Motorola Milestone – or as it is more commonly known, especially in the USA, the Motorola Droid for the Verizon service – we have no doubt that it’s a great device that takes Google to a new level, as we’ve previously discussed.
It’s unfortunate then that Motorola and Verizon alike are experiencing pretty terrible hardware problems with the Droid. Some buyers are concerned that the battery cover is either too loose on the rear of the device or the cover has entirely lost any grip. The right course of action would be to recall broken devices and repair them with a stronger cover or stronger grips.
Instead, here’s Verizon’s solution:

You may recall I’ve posted about the recent Verizon / AT&T advertising war numerous times. In this conflict, Verizon is undoubtedly winning. They have shown clever, witty and targeted advertising campaigns. But when it comes to flagship devices and even specifically their solidarity, AT&T win hands down. It’s unacceptable for the Droid to break like this in the first place, but for Verizon to place a sticker over the offending part? Ridiculous!
I think the best quote representing this situation must go to John Gruber of Daring Fireball:
Funny, I’ve never heard of any problems with the iPhone battery cover falling off.
